It's been a busy reading month this month, thanks to lots of good finds at the library. But the best thing I read all month, by far, was "The Help
," which I re-read for my book club's meeting next month. I swear, that's the one book I tell people about these days, when people ask me for a book recommendation. It's such an amazing book. If you haven't read it, go to Amazon
right now (because it's ridiculously cheap there for a hardback at $9.50), and buy it. You will thank me, I swear.
What I finished off this month:
1. Plan B: A Novel
by Jonathan Tropper
2. Juliet, Naked: a novel
by Nick Hornby
3. Twenties Girl: A Novel
by Sophie Kinsella
4. Mrs. Astor Regrets
by Meryl Gordon
6. Gourmet Today
cookbook
8. Rachael Ray's Big Orange Book
cookbook
9. The Help
by Kathryn Stockett (again - a re-read for next month's Book Club meeting)
What I plan to read next month:
1. Shanghai Girls: A Novel
by Lisa See
2. How to Talk to a Widower: A Novel
by Jonathan Tropper
3. Roses
by Leila Meacham
4. The Piano Teacher: A Novel
by Janice Y.K. Lee
Your list is my inspiration! I am "trying" to complete the 100 in 2010 and I've only read 3 books so far! I better get the move on. I've heard a lot of great things about The Help. Guess I'll have to pick that one up.

Good to know that the Help is just as good the second time around. Such a great book. . . .
ReplyDeleteThanks for the rec. on The Help - I've never heard of it, but need to read it. The Piano Teacher book sounds intriguing to me ...
ReplyDeleteI haven't read The Help but you certainly sound enthusiastic about it. I will take your enthusiasm into consideration. ;D
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, looks like you have some fun stuff on your Nightstand.
So I guess I need to read ‘The Help’. I’ve added it to my list because of your hearty recommendation. I love when people are that excited about a book; it’s a good sign.
ReplyDeleteOooo, lots of good reads. "Mrs. Astor Regrets" is one I have read over and over.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Nick Hornby!
Great books, great blog - having a ball looking around. Keep up the great work!

Wow, you managed to read a lot of books this month. I'll have to check out The Help. I've glanced at it before, but never wound up actually getting it.
ReplyDeleteI guess The Help just moved way up on my TBR list! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOur reading lists are similar - I just finished Twenties Girl and am reading The Help, and am hoping to read Shanghai Girls next/soon.
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes, The Help is an awesome book!
ReplyDeleteYou are one serious reader. I'm impressed!
Thanks again for stopping by on my SITS day.
I have seen rave reviews on The Help all over the internet. I need to check it out of the library.
ReplyDeleteWhat did you think of The Help? It's on my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteThe Help is a great read!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
I'll have to add some of those to my to-read list! Do you use GoodReads? I love that site! Right now I'm reading Morton Kondracke's book Saving Milly: Love, Politics, and Parkinson's Disease. I really recommend it!
ReplyDeleteWow, you've had a busy month! I don't think I have heard of any of these.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a great month reading. You can read my review for The Secret Diaries of Charlotte Bronte here.
