Phew. I'm back home. It's just now gotten to 80 degrees in the house, but the A/C is functioning and cooling, which is a super-big relief. Baby's still a bit out of sorts, but he's almost asleep now. That's a huge relief. He was so frustrated and mad before I put him to bed, I think he was just kind of freaked out because he didn't know what to expect for once in his short life. Poor kiddo. I hope tomorrow will be a little easier for him - I'm going to go out of my way for the next couple days to do things as according to plan as much as possible to help him get back into his routine.
The A/C man found NOTHING wrong with the A/C. Seriously. He said it must be an intermittent problem, and he just didn't catch it in the act. Kind of like how when your car is making a hideous noise and you take it to the mechanic, and it totally doesn't make the noise. Ridiculous. So it's totally possible that this lovely episode will happen all over again some day in the future. I am so NOT looking forward to that possibility.
Now I'm parked on the couch, in front of a fan, trying to stay awake (sort of), baking a sheet of Extraordinary Chocolate Chip Cookies, and watching yesterday's episode of "Daisy of Love" and trying to relax. I sure hope I will be less stressed tomorrow after a good night's sleep in my own bed.

We were suffering here without an AC two summers ago. I can't even imagine trying to do that in FL. At least it is up and running again now. I couldn't imagine being in a home that hot. Yuck.
Girl, one time...we went with no AC for two days waiting for my husband's next check to be deposited, then called out a repairman to fix it. He got there, looked over the unit, found nothing wrong, then flipped this random light switch thing next to it on the garage wall. I never even NOTICED that thing before. One of my kids had hung something on the switch and it had turned off. #!@@%!# Fifty dollars later!!
At least the AC man can't give you a big fat bill!
We just went through this as well. About three weeks ago, the ac suddenly stopped working. We tried turning it off for a few hours and then turning it back on, but it didn't really matter. Finally, after almost a week of really hot temps, we called the repair man and he came out, inspected the ac and determined that it was toast. He charged us $105 dollars. I wanted to cry because we totally cannot afford a new one right now. After he left, I noticed the ac was at 72 degrees and it was 92 out, so I waited until evening, set the room temp at 80 and turned it on. It started working! And so as long as we keep it at 80, it is able to keep the house cool. For now. Scary, eh? Wish I had that $105 bucks back as I now am a qualified ac repair tech. LOL!!
I'm in FL too and having A/C problems even though it's been checked by 2 different companies and they keep saying it's fine. To keep the air running, we have to remove the drain plug which means it leaks into a bucket all day long so we have to keep the temp high. I was tempted to blow up an air mattress and sleep in the pool last night.
